HOW TO RESET THE MAINTENANCE COUNT ON A LJ 4000,4050,4100.
Your HP LaserJet 4000,4050,and 4100 require regularly scheduled maintenance which involves resetting the maintenance count. When you see the message on your HP LaserJet 4000 instructing you to "PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE", this means that your printer has reached 200,000 pages. The printer requires a FUSER, ALL ROLLERS, and a TRANSFER ROLLER. H.P.calles this a maintenance kit . Once you install this kit, reset the maintenance count to (0) and continue using the printer. When the count is reset, the error message on the printer screen will disappear.
Instructions to Reset the Maintenace Counter
Turn off your printer now by pushing its power button on the side. Wait for the green power light to turn off before you proceed to the next step.
Press and hold down the printer panel "Item" key and the "Value" key. Make sure that you do not release the buttons until you are instructed to do so in the succeeding steps.
Turn on your printer by pushing its power button which is on the side. Wait for the green power light to turn on (you're still holding both buttons).
Release the "Item" and "Value" keys once you see the "Reset Maintenance Count" message on the display panel of your HP 4000 Laserjet.
